Hello, I've attached the document in question. Can anyone explain the following: The man in question came back from the middle east on 07/04/44 and moved from 654 AW coy to 761 AW coy on 19/4/44 then on 29/06/44 he joins a RHU unit in the 21st army group. On 05/07/44 he moves to 727 AW coy and the next day 06/07/44 he moves to 50 RHU. Then finally he is put on the Xii list on 11/08/44 and is still listed as part of the 21st army group. Thenn on 30/08/44 he is Xv listed and finally is SOS 21 AG on 13/09/44. From this i have the following questions: -What is an RHU? - On this man's service record is doesn't mention deploying to France on or around d-day yet he is part of the 21st army group (which took part in the landings and follow up battles) and is moved to a different unit on D-day it's self. Then some how ends up hospitalised (xii list) a month later. Can anyone add some knowledge to this? Thanks in advance, Will
Will, RHU will be a Reinforcement Holding Unit. IIRC I think I said on your other thread that this document is a centrally held index card on which some, but not all, entries from other Army forms were noted in an abbreviated form. Fuller details are usually recorded on other forms such as ARMY FORM B103. Steve Y
Hi steve, Regarding the B103's, the office at Glasgow are adamant that they enclosed them, but are resending them just in case. Will
That's great news Will. They should fill in a lot of the gaps and answer your queries. Good Luck at Kew. If you haven't been to Kew before and need any advice on the day just start another topic "Anyone going to Kew on Tuesday" in sure other members will respond and you can meet up and pick their brains face to face!
