Hi CK I was there in the Summer and that is one of the best displays of medals I have ever seen in a museum.
Was particularly interested in this set of medals to a namesake of mine.
And I loved the painting at the front of the museum.
Deacs, you may already have this
UK, Military Campaign Medal and Award Rolls, 1793-1949
Name: A Deacon
Service Date: 1901-1904
Service Place: Somaliland
Campaign or Service: Somaliland
Regiment or Unit Name: 2nd Battalion Yorkshire
Regimental Number: 6590
Wonderful images there Deacs. That's many thousands of pounds worth of medals in that display. Wouldn't mind a few minutes in there to take a good look. Oh! and a glass cutter too probably.
Steve when I was there they were saying that they were about to improve the medal display, I would like to know how the hell they could it was outstanding as it was ?
By putting it behind cutter proof glass for one
I know that many medal collectors feel that presenting row upon row is rather dull, but I don't agree. Perhaps I'm too much like a kid in a chocolate factory when it comes to this topic.
