    'Afternoon chaps,

An associate on another forum found these on the interweb recently:

    'Airfix magazine Articles 1979

Airfix magazine ran a series of articles in the second half of 1979 on British Army vehicles between the wars, written by Noel Ayliff-Jones.

There were five articles in the series:

    1. Early mechanised manoeuvres (June 1979)
    2. AFV markings between the wars (July 1979)
    3. Tank recovery in the 1930s (August 1979)
    4. Infantry vehicles of the 1930s (September 1979)
    5. Artillery vehicles between the wars (November 1979)

While the articles themselves are excellent, hay are particularly notable for the excellent photographs used to illustrate them. Picture research is credited to David List.'

    Enjoy,

Hi that's my blog. I've just found the forum becuse of the spike in traffic you've caused on the web site. I'm also posting interwar stuff at the moment on my Vintage Wargaming blog.

I'm currently interested in the role of 1st Battalion DLI as an experimental machine gyun battalion highlighted in the September 1979 infantry article, and I've posted elsewhere her (on the Durham Light Infantry theme in the unit histories and war diaries section.

Had a lovely moment of nostalgia looking at Roco minitanks - never owned any but coveted them via the adverts in the back of magazines and comics. Thanks for that.

Some fantastic stuff on that Vintage War Gaming site.

Worth watching the Carden LLoyd carriers doing jumps in the 1929 royal Turnament alone :P
