Hi, I am researching a member of the Inns of Court Regt RAC who died in Sept 1944, he is 6352161 Trooper R F Bardrick who died of wounds on the 12th Sept 1944 and is buried in Leopoldsburg War Cemetery. Does anybody have access to the war diary for the period June to Sept 1944 as I would like to find out where and when he was wounded? He is the only casualty for this day so he must have been wounded a few days earlier.. Any info or help would be appreicated, Cheers, Rick
I don't have the war diaries or any information, but am posting a headstone photo I took a couple of years ago.
Taurus Pursuant lists him in the Roll of Honour. Name:Tpr R Bardick Date: 12 Sep 44 Place: Eynthout on page 62 it says on the 12th... Inns of Court maintained their patrols along the line of the canal; Bree was found to be unoccupied, but the enemy continued to hold the far bank in some strength with groups of infantry and anti-tank guns covering all the bridge sites.
Hi all , sorry for jumping on this old thread , but I've been on the net all night trying to find some info on my uncle who served in the Inns Of Court & then i found this forum & just had to join. My uncle got killed 13th November 1944 ( aged 22 ) , his name was Trooper Frank Loft 4344205 & is buried in the war cemetery in Mierlo , Holland . If anyone has any information regarding that day i would be most grateful. Kindest Regards. Peter Loft.
Their history The Devil's Own tends to be a bit thin on detail but it mentions a handful of casualties during the 'first half of November' when the Regiment were essentially static along the west bank of the Maas and around Duerne. The latter sector was held by A and D Sqns in turn, witht the following incidents mentioned: CWGC (via Geoff's Search engine) suggests your uncle may have been one of the D Sqn patrol casualties: 001 LOFT F 4344205 INNS OF COURT REGIMENT 13/11/1944 002 SALT D 7959506 INNS OF COURT REGIMENT 13/11/1944 003 WILLOWS SC 6352456 INNS OF COURT REGIMENT 07/11/1944
