About 30 years ago, Albert produced "A Brief History" of the 59th HAA with the help of fellow members of The Eagle & Gun Regimental Association. As the Hon. Sec. & Treasurer for this association, he also produced the annual news letters which included additional WW2 accounts by other ex-servicemen.

Albert's efforts have been a great source of information for me, but it recently occurred to me that I knew very little about him. Apart from what is in the title of this post, I also know he was living in West Mersea (Mersea Island, Essex) during the late 1980s/early 1990s.

So I would be interested in any other info including his serial number, final rank, date of birth and (unless he has been very fortunate) the date he died.

    Many thanks.

    I have posted Albert's "A Brief History" here: Sergeant ACK-ACK: 59th HAA - A Brief History by A.S.Cross

Thanks Gus, so now I know his middle name.

Can I assume that (what looks like) 12 5'/31 means he enlisted on 12th May 1931 into the 7th Essex Regt (TA)?

I'm guessing this means he was born around 1914, and was older than I was expecting.

    Many thanks TD.

I doubt that this regimental association's annual reunions would have continued much beyond the late 1990s, as this was the decade when many would have died or become too frail to travel.
