Why was he with this service? Any information would be appreciated.

    :poppy:

Need assistance on Who/Where/What/How for this man who is on the Australian Commemorative Roll which is for those "Australians" who died in other Allied Services. If proved not to be "Australian" their names will not be removed from the Commemorative Roll however their details will be updated accordingly.

I have researched the Air Force members but there are many more Land and Sea deaths in a myriad of different forces.

There is not a lot of information on these people that can be accessed easily and I ask your assistance to fill in at least some of the gaps.

Hopefully some relatives may see this thread and add more.

I will make a different thread for each along the way as they may tend to get lost if clumped together.

Vincent Lockhart was born in Perth, Western Australia.

    Hello Geoff,

Why was he with this service? Any information would be appreciated.

I understand with some of the requests that there may be people commemorated who may not be Australians and that you are trying to establish these facts. I don't quite follow this one though as the information that you have already provided indicates that he was an Australian. Maybe I am not quite following what information you need.

Vincent Lockhart, Age, 42, Rating, 2nd Pantryman, Nationality [stating birthplace] Perth, Last Place of Abode, 10 seven Ave, Maylands, W Aust.

    Regards
    Hugh

    Hi Hugh,

    1. To establish if they are Australian or not.
    2. If not Australian some info on them and how they come to be on the Roll. If they were living in Australia for a certain period before, they are eligible for the Comm Roll.
    3. Research some more information on them. eg: you have given me an address for this man above and another couple previously.
    4. Hopefully from this information a relative will add more.

I have had relatives contact me nearly every other week of late with little snippets of information or just overwhelmed that their relative came up here on a google search.

There are a few who have "unknown unit" or the names as listed are not even on the CWGC database (not only MM) which makes it a difficult task.

Your info is great as it adds just that little bit extra to work with.

    Cheers

    Geoff
