Hi Guys, Would you know if these are available? it's just that I want to make my work as authentic as possible and thought these would help, particularly drill manuals with photo of how the weapons are held etc Soren
Amazon.co.uk: all arms drill: Books The key words for the manual are 'All Arms Drill'. an old copy is available on amazon.co.uk. A reprint is available in Waterstones and some other bookshops but the title they are using escapes me at the minute. Perhaps this will jog some other memories. The Home Guard Training Manual: Based by…Amazon.co.uk: Major John Langdon-Davis: Books Other key words would be 'Home Guard Training' but I don't know about their content. Perhaps someone else has that info.
I've got a Facsimile published in 2007 of the 'National Serviceman's Handbook' (ISBN: 9780752444239). All over Abe for a couple of quid, it's a collation of a couple of manuals and includes the 'DRILL (All Arms)' manual for 1951 along with photos of the 'official' positions. (Including 'The Monkey Crawl', With and without rifle...)
Bit of a bump, but I came across this the other day: The Manual of Elementary Drill (All Arms) 1935 and thought I'd share it as this was the drill manual that covered WW2. Things changed to a more modern style (notably 'bending the knee') in 1951, presumably for the benefit of National Servicemen.
Ha ! Monkey Run-There's a blast from the past...Its been a few years since I did that, along with the Leopard Crawl, Ghost Walk, The Roll and other such supposed methods of movement in the field. They all count for shit though when you are being shot at ..... I found runaway was far more effective!
