I was originally trying to find a thread for the sniper training info but couldn't find it. I then thought post the whole lot it may be of interest. Taken from 5 East Yorks 1944 War Diary WO 171/1398:
Hi Andy, Fascinating isn't it. I have those diaries from you of course, and my uncle was a sniper in the 5th Battalion East Yorks, but I haven't found which company he was in yet. I would love to know. Graham
I've just been having a flick through it for info on the Bn's CQMS, Ronald Brown for the 'sharpnel thread' but can't seem to find anything specific. I agree, its a very good diary with some excellent accounts and maps.
