I've been told that such a list exists and the individual concerned has a copy. Apparently it runs to 1500 pages and was put together in 1947. Has anyone else heard of it and are there copies of it that can be accessed at Kew, British Library, IWM or in India?

Their is a 1939-1945 Roll of Honour

A roll of honour : the story of the Indian Army, 1939-1945 / by J.G. Elliott | National Library of Australia

A roll of honour : the story of the Indian Army, 1939-1945 : Elliott, James Gordon : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

AND of course, you could just use the CWGC rolls, they give the war dead for the Indian Forces for the Second World War at:

Indian Army - 79322 WAR DEAD
    Search Results | CWGC

Indian Air Force - 897 WAR DEAD
    Search Results | CWGC

    Royal Indian Marine -
    501 WAR DEAD
    Search Results | CWGC

    Indian Merchant Navy -
    6113 WAR DEAD
    Search Results | CWGC

    Misc - 193 WAR DEAD

There are casualty lists that include killed, wounded, died, etc., which I believe are archived in India (exactly where, I don’t know). Copies were published in volumes for each regiment a few years ago, but the publishing runs were very small before production was halted.

I have this book, and while it is very good, it is not a 'roll of honour' in the traditional sense, despite the title.

It's a broad history of the Indian Army during the Second World War.
