Good stuff, and the very best of luck with it Chris. I'll add that to our links straight away. Cheers, Adam.
Excellent stuff, The one casualty that I cant find listed anywhere is Jimmy Kiddel, who was killed trying to escape from Stalag Luft III, better known as Ives in the film the Great Escape. P

Good effort and Good luck with it Chris. And a public thank you for all your help a month or so ago.. Regards Andy
Excellent website, Chris. Well done to you, Terry and all the others. We appreciate the link back to here. I also liked the cemetery search function - giving up very different info to the way it is presented on CWGC and much easier to search - a great feature!
I was doing some research on another young lad and came across this and wondered why I could not find him on the CWGC site. I was looking for causes of death for one of the Commemorative Roll Aussies F/O Terence Newton RAF who is buried in Bedfordshire and came across this! I was wondering why I could not find this lad on my list and on the CWGC site……….penny dropped and I looked closer at the date. Aircraft Crashes Around Turvey 1939-1945 Interesting site. THE EARLY WAR YEARS Just before mid-day on Friday 11thAugust 1939 local farmer Geoff Payne was walking up the track towards Bagden Farm to mow grass when suddenly a low flying aeroplane came over the brow of the hill in front of him and clipped the top of the prominent electricity pylon. There was an explosion and, trailing flames, the aircraft lost height and crashed to the ground 200 yards beyond, next to the buildings of Northey Farm. Exactly three weeks later Germany would invade Poland and precipitate the start of World War Two, and this was the first of a number of flying accidents that happened close to Turvey in the six years of war. Fairey Battle K9328 of 218 Squadron based at Boscombe Down in Wiltshire was taking part in a practice low level raid on the last day of ‘home defence exercises’ begun on the 8th August when it crashed. Its pilot, 21 year old Australian Flying Officer William Kinane, and observer, Sgt. Peter Allan, were killed instantly. The third member of the crew, wireless operator Aircraftman 1st Class Ivor Roberts, was badly burned and critically injured. He died at RAF Cranfield's sick quarters two days later.
