I don't think anyone would argue that an objective review of previously held beliefs and perceptions is a healthy pursuit and that obviously may challenge the status quo. In Canada, Terry Copp is a good example.

Not really, because Copp is telling people (veterans, enthusiasts) what they want to hear - that the Canadians performed far better than the official story has previously suggested.

Is there anything inherently wrong in that? Not at all. I've mentioned my qualified admiration for Copp's work elsewhere. His contributions to history are valuable. But let's be clear: he's not attempting anything particularly daring or controversial in the same way that the McKennas were.

    Best, Alan

    Alan,
I think it best to read the trilogy written by Blackburn. There you will find a historian and Veteran telling the truth and nothing but the truth.
McKenna and company twisted the facts to their own agenda. As Canuck has stated, the Canadian Broadcasting Company has for many years used its presence in the media to ensure that the left always had and has the upper hand. And, Copp and others has shown the official history to be somewhat suspect. This is reiterated in my post quoting Blackburn's words from his book " The Guns of Normandy".
Further, which country, with a population of eleven million citizens had the 3rd largest Navy and 4th largest air force of all the combatants in ww2? The answer?
    Canada.
For the Mckennas to produce such a documentary is rather Canadian.
    Pity, eh?
