Plea for help Corporal F T Rule 112150 served with REME during the war. While REME at Arborfield have been excellent and given great information about his service post the formation of REME in 1942, I have been unable to find records of his service or indeed what corps/regiments he served with prior to that. He was evacuated from Dunkirk at Bray-Dunes in 1940. Having visited Dunkirk over the weekend, I am keen to find out more as to when he went to France with the BEF, which unit he served with and also determine where in France he served at the time. Any clues as to where to find this information would be gratefully received. BSJerry
His number shows he originally enlisted into the RASC - Royal Army Service Corps. This quick army number finder helps . Ignore the fact that it's about Military Police, it just helps find orginal unit the number was allocated to. http://www.corpsofmilitarypolice.org/tools/armynumber?query=112150+ This thread will help too. http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/4837-army-number-block-allocations/ Apply to the MOD for his full service records. https://www.gov.uk/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records#service-records-of-deceased-service-personnel
Can I ask how to get info on a serviceman from arborfield? Is it from the REME museum and did you have to go there yourself?
Thanks for your help to date. The request was in writing to REME at Arborfield. One of their Technical Historians kindly put together a handwritten response that ran to several pages. They do not charge for the service but as it It was both diligent and highly informative so we were delighted to make a donation. Now in the hands of the MOD for his further RASC records.
