Identify Singapore cemetery?

Hi guys,

Recently found out I had a few relatives who served in the war such as my Great Grandad who was in Germany towards the end of the war, couldn't find any service records but have a picture of him.

Now I have a picture of my Grans uncle who was in Singapore who served in the RAF but unfortunately was killed there, I have a picture of his grave but was wondering if anyone could help me identify the actual cemetery he's in.

Apologies if the picture isn't clear but his cross says 'Cpl John Edward Finch'

Would this cemetery not exist anymore?

There is only 1 place for service records - Request records of deceased service personnel - GOV.UK you will need a copy of a death cert unless he died in service and has a CWGC reference

Hi,

I don't think my Gran will have the death certificate for her Dad but she thinks she has his records somewhere at her house.

I was mainly interested in trying to her uncles grave I'm Singapore today if it would still exist? On the picture I posted it seems like a well maintained one so I would of thought they would of kept it as it was?

 

The main (only?) GWGC Cemetery on Singapore island is at Kranji.

 

Thats easy enough to resolve if you need one , we can provide the information for yopu to obtain one.

Okay thanks that would be helpful, all I have of him is his lanyard, cap badge and his Royal Artillery patch and I'll ask BuckIt about Singapore

 

I looked on the Kranji cemetery and could only find a 'John Frederick Finch' not John Edward Finch unfortunately

 

That could be an error on their part.

Have you obtained his service reords, they really are the first step in researching military history the link for them is - Request records of deceased service personnel - GOV.UK

Yeah hopefully is and okay I'll have a look, I'll see my Gran tomorrow and have a closer look at the picture, as I think there is a service number on there
