    Hi,

can anyone help me identify the make, model etc of the auto bike in the attached photo, taken in 1945? Although the rider is in uniform, the bike was used in a civilian capacity.

    Thanks

Looks to be New Hudson. but 1945 may be questionable, checking.

Are you sure the rider is in uniform?

CAV was an Aberdeenshire series which commenced issue in July 1943. However, some authorities reserved blocks for two-wheelers and registrations were low so it could have been used some time later. It's not inconceivable that it was issued for an essential user such as District Nurse or similar.

Thanks everyone for your responses to my query on the auto bike, and apologies for the delay in acknowledging your comments. The auto bike was owned by my Mother who purchased it in 1943. The photo is dated on the rear "Sept. 1945". When you zoom in on the photo it does say on the bike "New H...." to the left of the rider's leg. I thought the trousers worn by the rider looked like army issue, but I could be wrong. Yes, "AV" was one of the Aberdeenshire registrations at the time. The photo was taken on Deeside in Aberdeenshire, where my Mother was living during the war years.
