Here is something I find a little strange to understand. IBM created the first electronic database and sold it to Germany to keep track of people in the concentration camps. When the computer (valve driven), broke down, the German's would allow the American engineer from IBM in to fix it. As a programmer and an interest in computer history, I just found this astonishing. I am sure if you do a search for this information on the web you will find lots of information related to it. I would love to hear from any computer engineers back then, especially if they ever actually got a call to go to Germany to fix the machine. Surely you must be thinking, "Will i make it out alive". Business and War are a strange combination.
Cynic, I think there is a book about IBM and the Holocaust, but I'm not sure. But welcome to the boards, and enjoy your stay! Do tell us about yourself.
There is a book entitled "IBM and the Holocaust" and its supposedly a very good read. I dont know the name of the author though!
