I think I found a WWII bullet casing???

Can anyone tell me what this means??? please?
I have a brass bullet casing that says MIENK LIEBEN FRAU on the top and then a eagle holding like a cross thing.. and below it says ANGENREN (the R could possibly be a K) SMOLENSK.. then it says 1943 and the word RUSSLAND at the very bottom

    Additional Details

so I typed the words into google and it came up as SMOLENSK being the 1st major battle of the french invasion of Russia. Russland means russia in german. MIENK came up as nothing really except a German last name. Lieben frau I guess can be translated into blessed lady or loved lady. ANGENRENT is the only word im really having trouble with.. in the translator it translated into IN RENT?? If anyone has any other ideas about where this bullet casing came from, if it was actually used in the war?? It also has a bunch of numbers on the bottom and the eagle on it is holding what I guess was known as the Iron cross??

    Hello

That sounds like a lot of numbers, letters and symbols to be on a rifle caliber cartridge case. Can you post some pictures of it with something to show scale?

    Welcome, by the way :)

    ...in 1943?!

    just joking :D

sounds like meine lieben frau = my lovely wife

could it be "Angenent", as it is a German surname

perhaps he planned on shooting his wife after the war

Starting to sound like it might be 'Trench Art' inscription on an artillery casing, no?

Could be "Andenken" Smolensk. "Andenken" means a souvenir:)

Actually, looking at the word "Russland" it is the modern German way to
write it, in that time they used the "Ringel-S" sign for 2 times the "S". I don't think it is trench-art.
Now, where is Smudger when you need him, maybe he can tell more as
"Lieben Frau" is not correct German either, should have been "Liebe Frau"?

okay so like I said in my previous thread I have a brass shell.. quite heavy and it says.. its hard to read cause the etching is really shallow, but this is what I think it says...
MEINER LIEBEN FRAU.. then below ZUM.. then ANOENKEN... Then an eagle holding an iron cross with a circle around it.. then SMOLENSK.. then 1943 and RUSSLAND
I was a little off on what I thought the words looked like in my first thread

can anyone tell me what the words mean and what it could be.. ???

oh and on the very bottom of the shell it says..
49 at the top.. then 1937 and in little tiny writing Wa294 and a tiny little etch I cant make out.. then 6348 and a lil star thing.. and then P 345

I thought they stopped using the backward S thingy in like the late 1930's.. I posted a new thread with a pic if you will please take a look.. and it definatly says meiner lieben frau.. I had a few words wrong in my last thread, but I looked at it really close this time and I think I got it right..

From my hazy memories of German lessons at school in the early '70s:-

    Meiner Lieben Frau
    Zum Andenken
    Smolensk 1943
    Russland

    My Darling Wife
    A (This?) Momento
    Smolensk 1943
    Russia

I'd bet on a shortened and bell-mouthed German 3.7cm Flak case. See here, 2nd row from the top.

    Nice bathroom too :D
