A more serious question. Which England Test player also played professional football in the Scottish League? Clue: he represented two counties at cricket and also played for three Football League clubs.

You are not thinking of Chris Balderstone by any chance

Give that man a cigar! Chris Balderstone it was - he played four Tests for England, county cricket for Yorkshire and Leicestershire and football for Huddersfield Town, Carlisle United, Doncaster Rovers and Queen of the South.

What do you reckon now Pieter? A thrash session tomorrow morning then in they go for some proper pressure cricket?:)

Well, with KP at the crease they certainly have the man out there for a trash session, which could take the game further away from the Aussies. And then get them under pressure. I've read the pitch is spinning, so that would be a great opportunity for Swanny.

Yep, I'm cautiously optimistic now ...

Totally agree with you, could be Swann's time here, especially with a big score to play with. He may be the key with the Aussie top 5, who, lets face it are going to need to score and bat steadily for at least 4 sessions of play.:)

Tell me was it M K Smith of Warwickshire who played both Rugby Union and Cricket for England.

Nice to see the English batsman doing their requested duty for a change, out us in a good position

No doubt, if England is going on to win this match, KP will be the man of the match. 227 with the bat and a crucial breaktrough by getting Clarke out last ball of the day!

What an unbelievable ending to the days play that was!!:)
Aussie will fight it out right to the last, so England need to take two quick wickets in the morning/evening.....or whatever it is? Hussey needs to be one of them I think.

I agree. He has the ability to play a fighting innings. North and Haddin can also occupy the crease for a while. So getting two of these three men out quickly, would be very good.

I wasn't watching or listening live - I crawled into bed at quarter to four - but was any explanation given as to why Pietersen didn't complete the final over?

    KevinC Slightly wierd

if a wicket fall in the last over of the day, "time" is called by the umpire, and the over will resume tomorrow
