Nice one Adam, good to see bulging shelves. And "nuts" is a word always worthy of an exclamation mark. Kind regards, always, Jim. P.S. "Nuts!"
This is why I come here. A while ago I asked a woman to pull over after spotting a small local memorial. When I told her to drive on she said, "Aren't you going to go look at that tanky thing?" It was a 37mm anti-tank gun. We're stranded on an alien shore
My mate posted this photo of a new building going up in the town centre. I instantly thought of the flak towers in Berlin & Vienna.
Ok. I know it's not the same spelling but the firm on here always reminds me of the 10th SS Panzer Division "Frundsberg".
We still often walk along the beach of the NE England seaside town where I lived during WW2. There used to be huge concrete blocks to stop tanks from the expected German invasion - how close it was. A few remains even now. Higher up, on the dunes, there were concrete look-out posts which have been demolished at last - must have been a difficult job. But the memories can't be demolished.
A friend of mine got a covid vaccine today because she is in the essential worker category. I told her, "This is not the end, it isn't the beginning of the end but it is the end of the beginning." They I asked her if she knew who said that. She said, "Teddy Roosevelt?"

Don't want to get into a debate on HS2 but this tunnel reminded me of WW2 pow escape tunnels. HS2 protesters dig tunnel to thwart Euston eviction Mainly posted this for Dave55 as he might not have heard about it.
Nah the tunnelers thought that they were escaping from Festung Britannica...mind you some had grandfathers who had tunnelled out of East Germany under the wall.
