I remember building an Airfix model of (possibly) a Gloster Gladiator that had the Hucks starter on the nose. Didn't Airfix (or maybe another model company) do a model of the Hucks starter Model T?

Hi Mike, Here is one on ebay from Hasagawa. I remember seeing a picture of one with multiple shafts arranged like a star with airplanes nosed in all around it. I don't remember what county it was from though. Imperial Japanese Airforce Huck Aircraft Starter Truck from Hasagawa1/72 | eBay
Hi Dave, nice find, but I am pretty sure the Hucks starter was on a Model T or something similar. Just had a poke round on google and found the model I built all those years ago was a Hawker Demon. Just found this: http://matadormodels.co.uk/yairfield3%2076th/lists%20airfield%2076th.htm And remembered the model Hucks starter was a scratch build I saw in a modelling magazine. I always wondered what that funny thing on the front of the Demon's nose was!
By the power of Google I found the article I remember seeing! On the Airfix tribute website, its from the February 1973 Airfix Magazine: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums...iew¤t=HucksStarter1.jpg http://smg.photobucket.com/albums...iew¤t=HucksStarter2.jpg
Dave/Mike Thank you for an excellent thread, really enjoyed the history behind the heath robinson contraption called the Hucks Starter
