How Would You Lay The Forum Out?

    Aye,
    Look here:
World War 2 Talk - Powered by vBulletin

It's alright, and it obviously works OK, but I'm sort of interested in any suggestions for tidying up our list of headings.

No guarantees I'll act on any ideas, but it'd be nice to have a few thoughts. It's something we look at moderately often in the backroom, but after a fairly massive tidy up a few years ago it's still broadly the same shape, with a few inconsistencies and oddities still present.

Personally I'd quite like two headings - 'WW2' & 'Not WW2', but that's maybe just me...

    What would you tidy/move/retitle/change?

There will be no payments for this focus group.

Ah Just something that springs to mind -can a thread when selected go straight to the last page?. For example when a thread has more than say three pages (joke thread) it starts at the first page. I know its small but every little helps?

See below: the little grey square button on the right takes you to the last post, should be just as handy.

Or if you go into the forum, like General or War in Air etc to see a larger thread listed, there is an option to click "Last Page"

I think that Battle Specifics is surplus to requirements.

Theatres of War is bigger and used more often - could it not accommodate the threads from Specifics?

    Why so coy?
We all know you'd just rename the place 'The great big 1940 Forum, take your post 1940 trivia elsewhere.' or similar...

Oooo I dunno...I'm quite getting into the whole North Africa/Italian Campaign at the moment. I must stress it is however just a short secondment though and normal service will resume in the new year - If I ever finish it ;)

Well from a generalists view I think the current format is easy to navigate and pretty much covers our arena plus gives good in depth info as required.

Wouldn't it be easier to keep WW2Talk for the interesting bits and hive off BEFBlather for the rest? :D

    Two schools of thought.
    Change for change sake!
    Change or die!

    Don't get like Tesco's & Facebook
You just get used to where everything is, then suddenly it ain't there no more.

    That is a good idea.
Maybe also a Favourites selection for the threads you frequent often.

D's outlined the last post facility that's already there.
And if you subscribe to a thread ('Thread Tools, top of each thread), it'll be listed in your UserCP. I think it also pops up in your notifications (where PM/VM alerts appear) when someone posts to it.
