The way you guys are talking , I have visions of the Harvard, Cambridge or Oxford libraries. See my spare room/study: (if the attachment thingy works )
Well over 6,000 volumes and growing every week. (Could be much more actually, haven't totaled them up for some time)
Uncounted but took a week to pack last time we moved house... so lots. Specifically 2nd war is probably about a third and growing at a silly rate, I try to have no more than 5or6 in the 'to be read' pile but there's so many marvellous reference books being released at the moment things are slipping, 9 more bought at Beltring..... Often puzzled as to where second-hand bookshops get their stock, they're not having any of mine. My best new finds are usually in remaindered bookshops before the evil book-fairies get hold of 'em. Cheers, Adam. Charity shops, ebay, mates on the lookout and job lots from house sales. Were they new or second -hand books at Beltring, I didn't see any about.
Were they new or second -hand books at Beltring, I didn't see any about. I'm guessing you didn't get the chance to do any at all of the trade stalls Sarge? (perhaps the advantage of staying for several days ) but books both old, new and exceptionally obscure (2 volume history of the Pickelhaube anyone?) are very much a part of them, in fact this year that's all I bought, not one new piece of rusty old junk....sorry, Militaria. Cheers, Adam
I regularly have a clear out. When child number two was on the way I sold some at my local WFA Branch meeting. I was happy with my £50. No businessman me.
if any of you need to get rid of WWII books, I'll be glad to have them. You'll be lucky The only books i get rid of are fiction works. All my history books have a use and will never be sold even if the wife tries to make me. Ross
I have no idea how many books I have, I know the last time I counted the books I had on Ocean Liners alone was approx. 110. Regards Paul
Ah well, I'm definitely the poor relation here then. Must have about 1200 books, but most are on mediaeval history. Probably only got about 200-300 on the World Wars.
You guys are unreal! Jodi and I probably have 300 all up. Most of the reference books are to do with WWII air war. Building a collection of WWII aviation memoirs but have been picking up anything to do with Aussies in WWII service lately as $ permit. Many more books to read than I have read but... Currently reading Hampton Sides' Ghost Soldiers. Bloody great read. Cheers Andy
