I have to admit I have got a database of all the books I own and it currently resides at 410, with on average an new book being added each week. I have to admit I have more books which I haven't read than those that I have. Just wondering how many you guys own? Ross
Probably 300 on my shelf right now. Mainly older Spy, Detective, Military & Sci-Fi. I sell a ton online so it's a bit of a "fluid" inventory. I can't drive past a garage sale w/o taking a look. It's funny but I now recall in the late 60's being a young schoolkid & eagerly awaiting the latest Ballantine WW2 volume to be released... If only I had hung on to that set!...
I probably have about 600+ books(I lost count after 178, which was YEARS ago). Mine are religious, historical, and historical fiction, mostly WWII. A good source for me is the local thrift store, since I do have 3 real close to where I live. pokari
I use local thrift and second-hand stores, Trademe (NZ equivalent to Ebay) and as many visits to larger centres as I can fit in. Kiwimac
I tend to keep turning mine over, but have about 120 currently, mostly about the third reich and the holocaust.
Not entirely sure on the size of my collection (probably over 200 of which history is maybe 25-40%). Not nearly big enough though...
I lost track a long time ago, with books scattered in two homes, and some still at my poor parents house! You can never have enough books!
My guess is about a thousand - all read, truly. Those of a military nature are cataloged. Should anyone be interested see: Catalogue of Military Books http://www.nih.ww2site.com/nih/Books.html Cheers, Gerry
God knows!! Mainly british military history from the 1st & 2nd World Wars. I have books scattered all over the house, a lot boxed in the attic and I know I've got some boxes at my parents house. I should really start sorting them out.
Bloody thousands, mate. I've lost track. I have an entire bookshelf, about nine feet long and as many feet high, nothing but WW2 books. And I mean, nothing but WW2 books.
Or you could alway make your furniture out of books, saves room. Or give them to me.... Nowhere near you lot, I have about a 100+ covering everything from history, through Sci Fi, Fantasy and the obligatory Uni stuff at present *sigh*. I tend to use the internet more than anything these days for cross referencing.
Uncounted but took a week to pack last time we moved house... so lots. Specifically 2nd war is probably about a third and growing at a silly rate, I try to have no more than 5or6 in the 'to be read' pile but there's so many marvellous reference books being released at the moment things are slipping, 9 more bought at Beltring..... Often puzzled as to where second-hand bookshops get their stock, they're not having any of mine. My best new finds are usually in remaindered bookshops before the evil book-fairies get hold of 'em. Cheers, Adam.
I keep on menaing to catalogue mine but never get around to doinf it. Counting one shelf of each bookcase & multiplying by the number of shelves suggests about 1,400. I try to turn over fiction but don't like to give away or sell non-fiction.
