Global football stars earn some of the highest wages in the world. Cristiano Ronaldo's contract at Real Madrid earns him around €350,000 (£265,000) each week. How much do you get paid compared with a top footballer? Use our calculator - part of the BBC's A Richer World season - to find out.

Hey Bamboo - that's not bad then as it's only for one week a year - what do you do for the other 51 weeks??

I couldn't even estimate the number of zeros involved.
My current income is Carer's Allowance for my Father and a small monthly allowance from him.

I am quite comfortable with that, It covers my expenses and a few luxuries but that is about all and it does not add anything to my future pension.

    Clive,
Very interesting but probably massive overkill for our merry band of forum members.

A high end hooker in Vegas probably beats us all by a factor of 10.

I'm a housewife but for my husband it would take 578 years to earn the same as Cristiano Ronaldo.

Fingers crossed for either some serious advances in medicine so we live that long, or a huge increase in Military salaries...hmm..Perhaps we are best off playing the Lottery!

Andy, ever seen a pro footballer at the National Archives ? Me neither ! Would I swap with any of the monosyllabic half-wits ? No thanks...

I had to do the Canadian currency conversion first but Ronaldo essentially earns 129 times my salary every week. It would take 130 years to equal his annual salary.

I'm asking for a raise on Monday! Perhaps playng with my balls might help that negotiation.

It's worth remembering that in addition to his salary a top footballer will earn at least as much (in Ronaldo's case many times as much) again in sponsorship & advertising income.

I remember many years ago laughing at the gullibility of David Beckham, when he paid £500 for a trim. My local barber was charging about £4.50 for the same. A friend suggested I compare the values to our relative incomes. When I did I was shocked. David Beckham could have paid £3,500 for his trim, and it would still have been a smaller percentage of his income than would mine at £4.50! So I guess that makes me the mug for paying so much for a haircut!

    Peter,

Don't be so pessimistic. There are many rich widows out there just looking for a solid guy like you.

I didn't say that there wouldn't be some tricky details to deal with. Some women can be very open minded if there is enough cash involved.
