Coming up to renewal time for me and I wondered what other collectors do about home insurance? This old tat we collect can add up to a LOT when you start to think about it and I can't see standard insurance covering a fortunes worth of wool/badges/etc. I don't think photographing and itemizing is really an option either!
I have some things listed on my insurance but in my heart of hearts I know it is not enough. I have photographed most items and recorded for example the numbers which will identify sets of binoculars , the ones I would hate to lose. In the end if someone breaks in to steal it will only go so far towards claims etc which I hope I never have to make. There are specialist insurance companies but I have never approached them for quotes.
