    Hello everyone

I was about to order a Home Guard Service Record (£30 seems a bit steep) and was wondering if the record would contain a passport style photo of the named serviceman. Does anyone know just what the record contains?

Thanks for your help in advance, a bit new at this.

    Best wishes
    Shaun

    welcome to the forum

i am not an expert but i would assume it would be a Home Guard enrollment type form with possibly a record of service.
not sure any photos would be included.
also post any info you have if you can, other members might be able to assist

I believe a lot of Home Guard records are due for release at Kew this year.

If they are the same as regular army, they will send one if they have it (apparently they don't hold them for everyone)
A word of advice - be prepared for a long wait - I've just been advised today that my request for my mother's ATS records may take 9 - 12 months (YES - That's almost a year!) Apparently they are snowed under with requests for help from welfare cases
