    Hi Peterhastie,
I wonder if you could find the Home Guard list for the village of Healing, in North-East Lincolnshire. I'm pretty sure a platoon existed, as it is mentioned in some ARP logbooks I have, and there is and entry on the BBC People's War website.
    Thanks in advance,
    LH

    Hi Peter,
First, thanks for this fantastic resource.
Do you have any info on my grandad Captain J W Delaney who was with WR14 in York. I can find nothing on this unit, but I think they may have been raised to guard the Rountrees factory where my grandad worked. I have a group photo taken outside the Castle museum and it has no names on it. Any help appreciated

    thanks very much

    Hi Peter

Both my dad and grandad were in the Home Guard during WW2 in Yorkshire - Dad was John William (Jack) Hanson and from Harlington nr Doncaster and Grandad was Joseph Vollans Straw from Swinton in South Yorkshire (Dad was a miner and Grandad was in the York & Lancasters in WW1) - do they show up in your records at all?

    Thanks

    YR

Sorry about the delay, just returned from Devon.

There is nothing in my officers list, 1941, for the names mentioned.

    Hi,
Just recv'd an email from TNA ref the records for the HOme Guard from County Durham have been digitised, I did a quick search and found one of my grandads served in the above Bn bought the records but my iPad cannot open the file, send a MSG to TNA to try and rectify that anyway that's not the reason I am posting, I now would like to get more info on the Bn would it be possible to send me the names of the officers of the Bn, I am certain he would not have been an officer but would still like to know who was,

    Hoping you can help
    Many thanks

    Mick

geordie809, pm me your e-mail and I will send you the list this weekend.

I wonder why TNA chose to digitize Durham first ?

    Peter,

Would you be kind enough to see whether an A. Peake appears in the Northern Command list, please?

    Thanks.
