No J Blyth, officer in 1941, the nearest is a J C Blythe in Chester le st. M'boro is the 8th and 9th North Riding Battalions. The 3rd Battalion was at Thornaby. Hi Peterhastie, I wonder if you could find the Home Guard list for the village of Healing, in North-East Lincolnshire. I'm pretty sure a platoon existed, as it is mentioned in some ARP logbooks I have, and there is and entry on the BBC People's War website. Thanks in advance, LH
Hi Peter, First, thanks for this fantastic resource. Do you have any info on my grandad Captain J W Delaney who was with WR14 in York. I can find nothing on this unit, but I think they may have been raised to guard the Rountrees factory where my grandad worked. I have a group photo taken outside the Castle museum and it has no names on it. Any help appreciated thanks very much
Hi Peter Both my dad and grandad were in the Home Guard during WW2 in Yorkshire - Dad was John William (Jack) Hanson and from Harlington nr Doncaster and Grandad was Joseph Vollans Straw from Swinton in South Yorkshire (Dad was a miner and Grandad was in the York & Lancasters in WW1) - do they show up in your records at all? For anyone researching the Home Guard, I have just recieved a copy of The Home Guard List (Officers) 1941 for the Northern Command. Counties include County Durham Derbyshire Leicestershire Lincolnshire Northamptonshire Northumberland Nottinghamshire Rutland Yorkshire Peter I am researching the Home Guard for Haltwhistle in Northumberland. 6th Coy 4th Batallion Northumberland. I would really love to be able to get the names of members - I have some photos and some names but no complete list. Can you advise/help?

Hi, Just recv'd an email from TNA ref the records for the HOme Guard from County Durham have been digitised, I did a quick search and found one of my grandads served in the above Bn bought the records but my iPad cannot open the file, send a MSG to TNA to try and rectify that anyway that's not the reason I am posting, I now would like to get more info on the Bn would it be possible to send me the names of the officers of the Bn, I am certain he would not have been an officer but would still like to know who was, Hoping you can help Many thanks Mick
