The citation, published in Gazette issue 30287 of 17 September 1917 reads: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when acting as Advanced Intelligence and Forward Observation Officer during an attack. He sent in very valuable information, and showed the greatest energy and fearlessness in obtaining it, pushing forward with the advanced patrols and going to and fro constantly under heavy shell fire to report on the situation. thanks J looks like 3 of the chaps killed in the Filton bombing 25/9/40 regards Clive Yes mate, when cross refrenced against the list for the 25th September, you wiil see some more of the Home Guard casualties among those of the Civilian and ARP dead, there is a plot all by itself but for some reason only the 4 HG headstones I posted are among them.......... so I will have to have another look for the other 12 .Bristol Past : Fishponds Local History Society
