HMS BELFAST - Imperial War Museum, London

HMS Belfast has a remarkable story.
For those who have not had the opportunity to visit her then I would like to share some of the images that I recently took on my own visit.

To say that I was impressed is an understatement!.

The first thing to note is her location - on the Thames close to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
This images where taken from the observation deck of the London Shard.

 

This next set show how you access the ship and views of her from the Quayside.

 

Here we have the main 6 Inch Gun Turrets.

 

Now for some Interior Shots:-

Sick Bay and the Dentists.

 

The Galley/Kitchens............and Bakery.

 

The forward Crew Compartments..............

 

The Radio Room, Post Room, Chapel and a certain place for keeping the Rum Ration!

 

Just about anything could be repaired on ship... here is the Rope room, Wood shop and metal work room.

 

Here are the Petty officer Quarters, Latrines and Laundry room.

 

And way down below the Boiler and Engine room, which gave the ship an impressive top speed of 32 Knots.

 

Here is the Radar, Sonar and communications centers.

 

Here are the Officer quarters on the upper decks and the Bridge and duty Cabin.

 

Here is the Shop, some internal Corridors and the Ships Bell.
