"The Jewish Question", what an utterly repugnant term and one that took hold throughout the Third Reich causing misery and death for millions. And all because of a question.

Hitler was twice decorated for bravery. He received the relatively common Iron Cross, Second Class, in 1914 and Iron Cross, First Class, in 1918, an honour rarely given to a Gefreiter.[35] Yet because the regimental staff thought Hitler lacked leadership skills, he was never promoted to Unteroffizier, a rank equivalent to a British corporal. According to Weber,

Hitler's First Class Iron Cross was recommended by Hugo Gutmann, a Jewish List adjutant, and this rarer award was commonly awarded to those posted to regimental headquarters, such as Hitler, who had more contact with more senior officers than combat soldiers.

You get one warning for linking to a Holocaust denial site.
That much can be done in error. Though with a site that blatant, I can't see much scope for error.

    Just one.

I am very sorry, I did not catch that reference I will find another reference to the Jewish Officer and his recommending Hitler for the award.

I deleted my orginal reference and posting to a more friendly one.

Believe me I would be the LAST one to have anything to do with a Holocaust Denial Site, it was a mistake and I apologize it was not on purpose.

Please believe me, it was a stupid error, I will make every effort to not repeat it again.

Three years ago a Jewish Doctor from Israel contacted me. His mother was a Gentile and a Heilman from our State of PA.

He had established we are 7 TH cousins on his mothers' side.

We also had a friend at church whose husband had a tattoo from the camps.

No I made a stupid mistake but please believe me I would never deny the Holocaust.

I asked the doctor why he was not searching for his father's roots and he said everyone was killed in the camps, there is no one on his father's side to research.

    The cow-pats are everywhere.
Try this. A 'rear area pig', it seems:

"Speaking of Hitler's famous first-class Iron Cross – the second class was a relatively common award – Weber said that this was often received by those in contact with more senior officers, typically those posted to regimental headquarters, rather than combat soldiers."

It's all cool PA, many of us have inadvertently linked to such drivel by accident over the years. Just try not to do it again!
If the subject is Nazis, check and double check the website.

Forgive me for going "off thread" but feel I must comment on your use of a very (very) faint grey coloured font.

Yes.....I know you are the Boss man and literally can use any colour you like but please bear a thought for those of us of advancing years who struggle to read your bon mots.

    Many thanks and best regards

Fair point Ron, I do it when I'm 'moderating' in an attempt not to spoil the visual flow of a thread too much - will try and remember to use a darker one in future.

(BTW - For any faint colour text; remember you can always click and drag to highlight it in a nice contrasty way.)

    Ron,
A quick fix - Click the quote button on VP's post - this will bring the text up immediately in the 'normal' shade. You can hit the 'go back' after you've finished reading.

Moderating in grey is more subtle than under the old regime when we used to moderate in big red shouty text

PS I was guilty of linking to a Nazi-fanboy site when discussing Joachim Peiper's early military career in 1940.
I only saw the bit that was relevent & missed to other stuff until I was pulled up by members.

    Back to the thread.............................

Why are we expected to be surprised that Hitler's early writings showed his deep antisemitic feelings ?

In 1936 I was a young 13 year old growing up in one of your average Jewish households.

By that time all my family were fully aware of how evil this man was and the menace he posed both to Jewry in general and the world at large.

My dear mother, who would normally never have hurt a fly, reserved one particular demonstration of her feelings towards the German leader.

When she was reading a newspaper and spotted a picture of him she would reach to the back of her head, remove a hairpin and, with much relish, solemnly poke his eyes out.

Havn't thought about that for years :)

It's not commonly known, but as a destitute youth in pre WW1 Vienna, Mr Hitler was fed, clothed and sheltered by a humanitarian Jewish Organisation. So much for gratitude....!

I'll dig out the detail and post tomorrow.

What is troubling is Hitler had a number of volunteer Islamic troops in WWII whose common goal was killing the Jewish.

Hitler maybe gone but not the Islamic goal to finish their work. Several Islamic countries gave Nazis a place to live after the war.

It was an evil individual who motivated Hitler and that evil individual is still working through others hearts to destroy Israel and the Jewish Nation.

However many believe, and I am one of them, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob is NEVER going to allow that to happen.

Since 1948 Israel has constantly defeated what some thought were greatly forces, even whipping out the entire Egyptian Air Force.

Israel will not be defeated and it doesn't need the USA to accomplish this. It has all it needs in their ONE True God. If they remain faithful to HIM then HE will remain faithful to them.
