Hitler: The Comedy Years C4 UK TV. Hitler and the Nazi Party have provided a wealth of comedy material for over 50 years, and were the inspiration behind famous sketches and routines by Monty Python, Spike Milligan and Freddie Starr. With the foreboding legacy left by Nazism and still having an effect on global culture today, the programme questions if there is still a place for such humour on the British comedy circuit Today<TEXT> on </TEXT>C4<TEXT> from </TEXT>11:05pm to 12:05am
Has anybody seen this: They Saved Hitler's Brain (1963) (TV) EDIT: Best quote in tonight's programme "If there was no Hitler, there'd be no Village People"!
No matter how tempted you are by it's 'ironic humour' just don't bother watching They saved Hitlers Brain. See it in as post modern a context as you like, It's still utter s__t! Good program though, loads of decent Hitler jokes, slightly marred by the tone of an undergraduate dissertation from time to time. Always a pleasure to see more of Mr Milligan in his favourite uniform and the Fawlty towers bits still make me cackle.

I was rather tempted by the Russ Myers film with Hitler as a porno star Good program though, loads of decent Hitler jokes, slightly marred by the tone of an undergraduate dissertation from time to time. Always a pleasure to see more of Mr Milligan in his favourite uniform and the Fawlty towers bits still make me cackle. Yes, the tone was a bit BBC4ish. I was rather shocked at the comments about Spike. Especially as he was born in India, spoke Urdu (met him twice, and each time we both embarressed ourselves by the quality of our Urdu), and the fact that nowadays his comedy would be considered postmodern irony (OK maybe Curry and Chips was really bad but I still liked it). And atl east it wasn't as bad as 'that Hitler living next door' thing that got pulled after one episode.
Good old spike with a military reference. YouTube - Spike Milligan - The Lord's Prayer YouTube - Spike Milligan - Kilt Chimes YouTube - Spike Milligan - POW Camp
Spike You've met Spike Milligan!? I was hugely impressed by Ron having met Churchill but this may top even that. I'm so star-struck!
You've met Spike Milligan!? I was hugely impressed by Ron having met Churchill but this may top even that. I'm so star-struck! Mid 90s - both times at book signings - Black Beauty According to Spike and the other as a gatecrasher who didn't buy a book but did get him to sign my copies of the War books. He was quite frail, but quite charming, in a Spike sort of way. I remember as a kid trying to play the vacuum cleaner.......................:p
And don’t forget the wonderful Heil Honey I’m Home Heil Honey I'm Home! - Wikipedia! whatever happened to all of them? I was hoping it might be followed up by a series where Hitler works in Grace Brothers - Heil Honey I’m Free
[QUOTE="Dave55, post: 869323, member: 1485tes a good one. I'll watch it after work tonight. Thanks! [/QUOTE] Not terrific but still pretty funny. I don't think they could have carried off a full season though.More like a one time comedy sketch. I'm pretty sure all of the historical references would be missed by younger viewers. Good job on the American accents.
