I take it from this that you suffered a traumatic experince with a cat as a child?

When i was on the dole and had two cats, I used to buy a loaf of bread, chop it into bits throw them onto the back green wait for the birds and then threwthe two cats out with the cry of "Help yourself"!

Owen you have my deepest sympathy. We have cats. As to the problems of the litter tray, bin bags and massacring of small furry creatures, have you ever heard of a Super Soaker? Nothing quite as hilarious as seeing a cat jump 5 foot in the air after getting a shot of water right up the backside. And the best bit is you dont have to go near them, so no itchy eyes.
Get a super soaker mate, best investment you'll ever make.

That sounds like so much fun it just has to be illegal :)

Cat are by natyre hunters and will stalk their prey even if they are not hungry!

My olderst cat known to the world as Cat, was lying in front of the telly watching a nature programme. he was quietly purring away when the scene changed to a capercallie sitting on its nest chirping away.

Chirp! Chirp! it went and all of a sudden Cat leapt to his feet and towards the TV claws out! Chirp Chirp went the capercallie and thud went Cat as he hit the TV screen!

I thought your free birds-into-cat-feeding suggestion was inspired Morse. I shall try it tomorrow.

    Personally It's dogs that I can't stand...

'tis excellent fun. And about the only thing these days that isn't illegal. Works wonders on our moggies when they have a small fluffy thing that is making a racket but they won't kill it cos it's so much more fun this way. Cats are by nature evil. Law of nature.
And if you get it right said target of super soaker will levitate vertically to a height of approximatley 5 feet, perform mid-air sommersault, and hit ground at full speed.
    Sodding hilarious.

    Sorry,
    Adam.

What an odd-looking cat! I hope his behavior is warmer than his appearance.

The oddest-looking cat I ever met was a 23-year-old charmer named Ringo. He was white, except for a "Phantom of the Opera" mask on his face, a gray ring around his tail (hence the name) and a stripe down the top of the tail. He was very well-behaved.

What? I live with a herd of cats that massacre anything small and fuffy. it gets annoying when you walk into the kitchen in a morning, still half asleep and put your foot on something decidedly sticky.
    revenge is best served wet!

they are only doing that because they see you as a kitten who needs to be taught what to do! That is what i read once and one day i went down to my front door where a dead bird lay on the doorstep! i picked it up and took it upstairs and put it down in front of bagpuss. He looked at the bird then me with a look on his face which said "How did you manage that"!

After that there was no more "gifts"!

And you believe everything you read, yes? My cats definitely know I am not a kitten. Kittens do not give them a good slap when they are in the middle of a stand off in the middle of the kitchen whilst I am trying to cook tea.
And kittens do not have to play hunt-the-other-kidney when cats have massacred a fluffy creature and left bits of it scattered around kitchen floor.
Believe me, they know this Kitty ain't a kitten.
A super soaker is the only way to go when you have cats.
Owen, dogs aren't that bad. Mostly. Well, some of the time. Ish. i deal with a dozens of them every day at my work, and I can honestly say i've only had trouble with one. It's the humans that give me the worst behaviour.
