Hi Steve, I was wondering if you can explain what "E. of E." means in this extract from one of my father's letters when he was with the 7th HAA Battery, Indian Artillery in April 1945: "Now it is nearly 17.45, at which time our E. of E takes place. They call it “Stables” in this Regt., in accordance with the traditions of the good old Horse Artillery". And then a bit later: "I have just learned that tomorrow morning our “Stables” are taking place at 07.15, which means that little Wyn will have to be up and doing at 06.00. Misery me!" It seems to be some routine that is done both morning and evening. Any light you could throw on this would be most helpful. Thanks Cherry
I can only suggest something akin to "Ease, Engage" and "Ease, Ends". Stables means wash down the horses etc, harnesses off and then AM harnesses on, prepare for work.
