I dont know if this really related to this topic,.. but i really have to share this things to you all,.. so you could take a good precaution action over your precious books/magazines collection.

Reached my home town two days ago (Jakarta) after my last homecoming on early may for the birth of my very first baby boy, Me and my wife were never eye to eye over our interests,.. but thats not really matters much,.. as history she found, is not harmful to our relationship.

    When I approach my old sturdy bookshelf in my room, came to shock,.. it is not there anymore!!,... and all the contain of that shelf;

-Few editions of history of the second world war by purnell and they are 60's series very original,.. I managed to save the volume 3 number 10 3/6, its mainly about alamein as i brought it along when i went back to singapore,..

    - ALL!! my time life series on WW2

    - Fighting elite, Kamikaze, Waffen SS

    - Napoleon

    - Warlord(about china civil war in early 19s)

    - Ming(China during trans from han to manchus)

    - History of Fighting vehicles

    - Warships 1900-2000

    - Luftwaffe of WW2

    - Miracle of midway

    - Rommel by Fraser

    - most of aeroplane mags,.. american ww2 mags,.. and many many other war related books,...

    - My precious models(line level ships, 1/350 Yamato,..etc2) my spits safe,.. it is in singapore

for most of you they seems not much,.. but not for me,.. i havent finished read them all troughoutly,...

the only explanations i got were,...

" i thought you no longer read those old books,.. so i clear them aswell your old toys,.. besides we need more space for the baby.."

well,.. as for the last reason was valid enough,.. but the action is rather too harsh,.. but for me,.. she and the baby are everything,... if its made a better day for them,.. so be it,.. i just could wish,.. i should had placed them somewhere which not intervene on their activities,... or placed them in the storage room,..or,.. i just could wish,.. hope this not happen to any of you,..

    Regards

Wow, this almost sounds like a good justification for homicide, or at least divorce. :) I admit my wife of 18 years isn't crazy about my books and models, but I just tell I can read history, and build plastic models, or read porn and go to bars. She's never gone so far as to throw books away.

Seriously I really feel for you. Any chance of getting them back from wherever she got rid of them?

I had a young niece who many years ago, decided that she would tidy up my room and she put a lot od stuff up in my loft. as a result, I only recently discovered my old Wops notes and that due to holes in the roof, much of the stuff has turned to pulp!!!!!!!!!!!!

    But i agree with halfyank!

Aaaaghh....that's a fate worse than death.

My mother imposed similar things upon my father, which only hastened the series of strokes that led to his death at age 66. When we moved, she just said, "We do not want..." his piano, his antique typewriter collection, and a lot of his other stuff, and he just got rid of them.

And my brother threw out the warship models we built when we had to get rid of Mom's house after she died, to my displeasure.

Fortunately, my wife understands clearly that I am not getting rid of any of my books. And I bought new ship models.

Your news is bad indeed. :(

i rather not to fight fire with fire ;) , as they are (wify and baby) meant more than anything to me,..but i agree of your points though, that history much much healthier hobbies than some others,... however,.. she disposed them not out of anger or anything,.. it was an honest reasons,... we need space for our babycot,.. baby cupboard,.. playpen,.. etcs.,..

Seriously I really feel for you. Any chance of getting them back from wherever she got rid of them?

Appreciate your concern mate :) , after talked to her, day before,.. she agreed on putting aside parts of our budget to regain (some) of what was lost,.. but I declined as i intend not to prolong the matters, besides, my Junior is our top priority at the moment,. but i did explained that i will try to rebuild my collections again,.. in timely manner,... however some seems unrecoveable(my history magazines by Purnell from 60s :( )

    cheers :)

Go back to E-Bay and get yourself a verified Paypal account, hooked up to your bank. Then you can make payments directly and securely from your bank account to the seller. It works for me.
