    Wonder what happened to the mortars, but they reminded me of the refurbished one at Enniskillen Castle - previously at Colebrooke House - which is a memorial to Lt. Brooke VC, Gordon Highlanders. There are a couple of other photos on this thread relating to memorials also which might be of interest, unfortunately the inscriptions on the one to the Enniskillen Regiments did not come out at all.

    I think they were probably recycled during WW II, like railings. See the memorial on the Mall in Armagh, where similar guns disappeared.
