Subject to the funding becoming available, the Royal Voluntary Service ( previously WRVS) plan to digitise their records covering the period 1938-1941. A flavour of these records can be seen in the video at www.royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk/amillionwomen The funds are being raised via Kickstarter. So far half the target of £25,000 has been raised. Once the records have been digitised they will be made available online, to view free. The video has been narrated by Patricia Routledge with voiceovers by Victoria Coren Mitchell. The records give an unique insight into life on the Home Front in the war. Please look at the video and if you are able, make a donation. Many thanks

Just an update, the project has the funding in place and will go ahead, with records becoming available in 2017. I will post again when this valuable and interesting resource becomes searchable.
