Hi all - im new to this forum and just wondered if anyone could help me! 2nd SAS Regiment WWII My Grandad served in the 2nd SAS regiment and I was just wondering if they are mentioned in any historical books regarding operations and training they received. I have quite a bit of information on all his medals - which i have copies of - some of the special operations he was involved in and details of some of his training. I received this from my Uncle, who had collected the information. If i wanted to investigate anything myself further how would i go about doing this? Is there an archive I can contact? Would the archive have detailed information about the missions - or is that still classified? Sorry for all the questions but I never had chance to talk about this to my Grandad and want to pass this information onto my future family. If anyone is interested in knowing a bit more of the information i have then let me know.
Hi Simon and welcome to the forum - don't know any official archive of operations but you might try a book by Major Roy Farran who was a Squadron leader with 2 SAS from early on under Bill Stirling and then Paddy Mayne - it's called "Winged Dagger" and recalls many of the operations in which they were involved ...... Cheers
