Great site and looking forward to using and sharing information with the other members. My father was in the Navy 1939-1945 and I am researching his war and the beach his LCI ended up on D Day.
Hi Borjeno and welcome. Might be worth asking a moderator (eg Owen) to add LCI(L)241 in your thread title to attract informed members. How far have you got so far with your research? Do you have your Father's service record for example? I have attached some info on the vessel type from 'Allied Landing Craft of World War Two' courtesy of Kevin Tucker.
Thanks Owen. Some info here from navsource.org including a flotilla number: Landing Craft Infantry LCI(L)
And a couple of mentions here: Royal Naval Commando N http://relaysystem.co.uk/N_CommandoByLtCdrMVRedshaw.pdf This link indicates that 266 flotilla landed at Sword beach on D-Day (see picture 24). HMLST 427 AT WAR - PHOTO GALLERY and here indications that 266 flotilla landed at Queen area of Sword beach with elements of the Royal Ulster Rifles: http://www.navsource.org/archives/10/15/150384.htm
Apologies for not replying earlier I have been away for a few weeks. Thanks for all of the replies and information I will take some time to go through it all. Mike L I have got Dads certificate of service and a few photos taken on his box brownie.
Hi Borjeno, was getting worried we had lost you! I would be interested to see the record and photos if you don't mind posting them.

Hi Mike I was thinking perhaps I should move my thread from intro's to "war at sea" or something like that. I am open to any advice. I can post everything I have photos etc as I have scanned most it. LCI 241 was left behind on the Normandy beach with a hole in it and Dad transferred to LCI 245 which I am also looking into. I have got 245 at Walcheren and down the Sheldt so far.
Hi, send a VM or PM to Owen, he will move your thread if he thinks it necessary. If you have a load of information just post what you think is the most important for a start - we can always ask for more!
