I joined this forum while searching through the net for the 99th London Welsh RA HAA as my Dad was in this regiment through the war. His name was BQMS Edward Wood B.E.M. I have all his medals and treasure them.
Welcome. Presumably you are aware of the Regiment and Battery War diaries held at Kew and perhaps a little of their history already as they were part of London's AA defences at the beginning of the war.
Here's to getting you on the right path I've found his original BEM Citation : http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7391176 Hopefully some kind soul will look it up and post it on here for free for you so don't pay the £3.45 just yet. Unfortunately a PC upgrade thingy opens all my PDFs in windows now so I struggle to find the citations. The citation serial number might be 1374
Thanks to all for your replies it makes endeavors worthwhile. Dad told me about some of his war ,but no doubt there were lots he kept to himself he and his comrades always played it down, but from his BEM citation I know what he did makes me very proud. He lost his Dad during WW1 at the battle of the Somme so I suspect it must have been on his mind from D day and on. He has the 39 45 star France and Germany star the defense medal and the British Empire medal there is also one other which I am unsure about I will look more closely next time I clean them.
