As a lock down project I looked to create a prop No.4 Rifle - three flavours Hero, Supporting Actor and Extra. Hero - was for close up work - so all movement functions as close as possible - but limited to fall outside UK law on Firearms Certificate while complying with Violent Crime Reduction Act Supporting Actor - bolt action movement only, no cocking, trigger or magazine action Extra - everything fused together as solid lump The design was to be created in Fusion 360 from photographs - not measured plans - 3d printed with split seams on receiver to prevent any re engineering adaptation of design to allow single piece pressure components. Here in the UK pressure components such as barrel, bolt, firing pin and receiver are all controlled under Firearms Law and, unless specific ownership requirements met, something that can be mistaken for a firearm must be coloured more than 51% in bright colour combination eg blue, orange etc. So if the Nerf scheme blows your gasket it's not open for debate here - lobby UK parliament or build your own and do what soothes your tortured soul. Any way long story short -with the relaxation of UK lockdown today I decided to mark current state of progress on the Hero version. Uses non FAC components to prove dimensional accuracy - current build as skeleton action - cos I always wanted one - bolt cycles, half cock, full cock, 1st and 2nd trigger action and magazine removal/insertion. Work in progress - next is retaining bolt head in receiver groove - doing as a MkI - adding function to safety catch and sorting out bolt head extraction for spent cases/extraction screw for whole rounds. I'll try to get together a clip of the bolt cycle/cock/fire action. On the to do list once Hero/Supporting and Extra versions done - some small mods to give MkI* and get the SMLE MkIII files to the same stage. Regards Ross
