Killamarsh is recorded as being in the Sub District of Eckington, within the Chesterfield Registration District from 1837 to 2013.

Chesterfield RD survived government administration boundary changes of 1974 but was abolished in 2013 and absorbed by Derbyshire RD. However Derbyshire RD is based at Chesterfield and In addition there are other RDs which cover areas of the county.

    How did I miss him?

Thanks Harry for the above. What don't I know about the boundary changes? I'm from Dronfield, my cousin lives in Killamarsh...we always seem to have escaped Sheffield by a whisker and they've been after us again recently. Now back to Henry Whiteley, hopefully....

Are you going to take a punt on applying for his service records with the info that has been highlighted on the forum?

I think that in addition, two parts of the parish of Killamarsh before 2013 were transferred in turn for a short period to the Rotherham RD. Boundary changes have featured periodically since 1837 but the big upheaval came in the1974 local government boundary changes, a complete rationalisation of administration and RDs.
