Nothing too difficult there as the s/rjama is merely a draft code whchh allowed him onboard ship to the BEF in France in Feb '1940-then return to the UK (HOME)
Stayed around the Uk until joining 21st Army Group in France from Oct '44 until Dec '45
then demobbed to Z(T) rserve in mrch '46

the rest is just the clerk's scribbles and doodles

Out of interest - Who was he serving with when he joined the BEF?

The bottom line (blue boxed) - Authority War office Letter 19Gen/9699 (file number) AGI B26. Which gives details of the authority for an occurrence.

A.G.I. Adjutant General's Instructions. the AG is responsible for the administration of the army

    18/10/44 is that 550 Coy ?

    It's 530 coy.

Was just curious if the blue box was special code or something with it having an asterix next to home. My grandad was awarded the Africa Star yet he seems on paper to not have been there????

I'm aware from all my stuff until next week but I have their war diary - I'll see if there is anything RASC related in it. There maybe a separate Field Return for attached personnel.

It does seem strange about the Africa Star-have you got the medal?

Not too strange as it is probably a case of sloppy admin by some clerk who managed to miss out his service from the BEF until D Day- he could have been anywhere in the interim-
Africa - Burma -even the Isle of Wight we shall never know unless there is more sheets to the service records ..

Yes I have the actual medal.

Drew I have the 65 med reg RA war diary and have loosly placed his where abouts during the BEF, thanks for the offer. I have also tracked down the Catalogue No.s for the diary of 530 coy 1944-46 from the NA and will look into the costing of getting them.

Under the part where it lists his movements, promotions etc that only goes up to 1942 then stops. I only know he was in the 530 coy as its scribbled above where it lists him as in NWE (aswell as other papers relating to the issues of medals).

I contacted the records after I recieved them and they said that they had sent me all they had, yet there is 3 years worth missing.

The other sheets can be viewed in a previous post I did
