This is the property in 1939, Sarah H Davies married John Nicholas, Q1 1947, so guess she is the lady on the back of the photo.

You also dont need a death cert as you have the CWGC document that replaces the death cert - as attached below which also includes his service number, so you dont actually need a date of birth

    TD

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1995
    Name: Warwick George Davies
    Death Date: 20 Feb 1944
    Death Place: Kent, England
    Probate Date: 6 Feb 1945
    Probate Registry: Llandudno

TD I'm on my phone so haven't downloaded LG entry - but doesn't a J prefix denote a Canadian number? Apologies if this is irrelevant!

Did your grandad David Davies marry a Florence?

there is a family tree for Sarah Harper Davies on ancestry but it is locked so you will need to contact the owner but they may know who the relation is?

Assuming this CWGC record Casualty Details | CWGC is of the right man then it states

    Additional Info
Son of George Allen Davies and Jessie Florence Davies, of Gillingham, Kent.

So there is something screwy here - the CWGC, The Probate registry etc all seem to show a W G Davies died on 20th Feb 1944, and had connections to Gillingham in Kent where his parents lived
    32858_611411_1998-00298 (2).jpg

However Nog2104 is saying that there family have no connection to Kent

Can I suggest that Nog2104 sits down and has a look at all this and pulls it together into a more logical related statement. We seem to be chasing about all over the place, which could be being made worse by having a common surname such as Davies (or Davis) especially in the Welsh borders area

    Confused TD

How certain are you of Elizabeth’s maiden name being Davies

I can find no record of a Elizabeth Davies marrying George Davies

unfortunately welsh records do not show mothers maiden name

  14. CL1

    CL1 116th LAA and 92nd (Loyals) LAA,Royal Artillery

The reason I suggested this chap is because he is the only casualty RAF who has a father (even though its his second name ) as Allen

    on an aside
is this Allens father who you state was born in Clun

    Name: Mother's Maiden Surname:
    DAVIES,
    WILLIAM BIRD
GRO Reference: 1853 S Quarter in CLUN UNION Volume 06A Page 465

Is the Williams son Allen who you state was born in Knighton

DAVIES, ALLEN mothers maiden name LEWIS
GRO Reference: 1889 J Quarter in KNIGHTON Volume 11B Page 132

    regards
    Clive
