Hi all,

Could the experts help me with this service record please.

3440587 Frank Beddows was a Pre War Lancashire Fusilier who served from 1925, including 1927-29 with the Shanghai Defence Force, before being discharged to the Reserves in the early 30's. I have his other papers that show this earlier service.

Called up for WWII, still with L/Fus, this is the confusing part, he seems to have gone out with the BEF 1st Echelon, but served with the Ordnance Directorate. So why would a L/Fus serve with the Ordnance Directorate?

He came back to UK, then Back to France with 1st Echelon BEF, but returned in May 1940.
It then gets confusing, with some information being added later, and duplicated dates so I can’t tell if he was at Dunkirk.

He later served with the Warwickshire regiment, but can find nothing about the 15th Bn. Not sure what regiment the ‘31st’ Bn. relates to, though this seems to have been home service.

Once he joins the RAOC it seems ok, he ended up serving with the 4th Indian Div Ordnance Park in Italy. If anyone can help with his early career I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Regards, Steve
