    Jason,
Do you have a photo of your Dad when he was younger by any chance?

I see that there's a possibility but am not convinced yet, I'm afraid.

Would be excellent if you could get a confirmation.

Jason, I picked your father up and without his permission lent him to a South American friend I have, who shrank his head.

    para pic 1.jpg

Now they are more or less the same size, and it appears to me that the para has a broader face in general. Conclusion? I don't really know, what's your father's military history? How old is he???

Za you know when I messaged you about this I nearly put be serious:lol: as for the broader face I can live with that given the passing of time and the addition of false teeth changing the shape of the face a bit(thanks for the pic alteration should help comparison) but as I said im not sure myself. For military history of my Dad see this part of a post from another thread its me refering to my Dad. Dad had a bad chute and spent time in hospital when he came out he ended up in Burma but not in a Airborne capacity thats another thread on here:wink:. I can only tell you Dad spoke of the 11th battlion, jumping from Whitleys........which has also caused some debate for as far as I know he never went overseas until Burma:unsure: and I have been told 11 Para only used Whitleys jump training in the Middle east, I explored records of jumps at Ringway through the forum with no results for G.H Parr, and the same for parachute accidents via the very able England Phil, he also mentioned a NCO who was of German origin:unsure: who due to his methods had a accident:wink: as for company, platoon or names sorry mate no help really only names I remember mentioned was a Joe Banner or somthing similar that Dad spoke of.Finally from what I have worked out he joined up before July 16th 1943 as he lied about his age and that date I just gave was his 18th Birthday he intially joined the RASC, then volunteered for Para training as to what date I dont know sorry! and had his accident prior to September 1944, two things have always puzzled me did he finish his jumps:unsure:if not due to the accident how was it he spoke of being with the 11th Battlion...............and as I said the rest is another thread on here..... thats my Dad in my Avatar 4th from the left on Mandalay Hil.

Jason, your avatar is quite clear, if your father held his palm up we could read his fingerprints :D

How old was he when that later photo was taken?

Paul, Thanks for the extra info........ I reckon its 'Bluey Scopes' you refer to on the left of the pic and I bought the book in question on Ebay yesterday:D looks really good and im curious as to the pics connection to the Author being as it mentions the RIF and SBS but not the paras in the blurb about the book. Ramon thanks for the input mate I was pretty sure it was Cos, given that I know the 11th Battalion were there with a company and also the SBS, be good if somone could come up with further info as you say and I would appreciate it if you do find the scan and can post what is on the back. All the best Jason.

I found the scan but I have problems with placing it.I try it this evening again. Otherwise somebody have to help me and put the scan on the forum.

    Hi Tom,

Yes those are the ones that Harry's wife gave me. I've managed to ID the second one in from the left on the top row, he is Corporal "Appy" Appleton. He also appears in the picture of the No.1 Platoon, A Coy in Barletta, Italy along with Neville Ashley, Arthur Latchford, Bluey Scopes and all........ :)
