    Folks,

I'm trying to track down some organization information on the Inns of Court in July and August 1944. Unfortunately, it seems they had two distinct organizations in Normandy:

I read a post on this forum (http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/armour/28487-reconnaissance.html) indicating the War Diary of the Inns of Court Regiment recording that they changed their organization twice very soon after landing in Normandy.

1 - forming four light troops each of four Daimler Scout cars and retaining one troop of two Scout cars and two armoured cars

2 - the organization they had through the rest of the war. i.e. six light troops each with only two scout cars plus three heavy troops each with two armoured cars and one SOD.

It looks like the 2nd organziation was in place for Operation Goodwood (Ian Daglish lists it that way in his Over the Battlefield: Operation Goodwood), so mid-July. However his information is a bit generic, so his information on Inns of Court may not be right. So, I'm trying to find confirmation on the timing of the change to the later organization.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks!
    Ed

Have you considered getting a copy of the war diary-It may list all the details in an appendice.

    Cheers
