Hi all. My friend Emma found these dog tags and so far no decent info found. Could be WW2 or maybe 1950’s issue. Any help appreciated! Alex. Military dog tag found by metal detector in cabbage field
Wartime at least usually had an initial too...so it may be S. Tupples or Stupple S. rather than a surname Stupples. It can't be that common a name and you're probably looking for someone born in the 1930s.
There are 20 people named STUPPLES, birth registered in Kent 1935 +/- 10 years, 11 female, 9 male. 47 people nationwide. Presumably the service number can be tracked down somehow?
There is a newspaper report of Mary Stupples celebrating her 102 birthday in 1950 - she lived in Shepherdswell, where the dog tag was found. So the name once existed in that area,
