    Wartime at least usually had an initial too...so it may be S. Tupples or Stupple S. rather than a surname Stupples.

    It can't be that common a name and you're probably looking for someone born in the 1930s.

    There are 20 people named STUPPLES, birth registered in Kent 1935 +/- 10 years, 11 female, 9 male. 47 people nationwide. Presumably the service number can be tracked down somehow?

    There is a newspaper report of Mary Stupples celebrating her 102 birthday in 1950 - she lived in Shepherdswell, where the dog tag was found. So the name once existed in that area,
