Hi, I'd like to know what three lines of a service record mean if possible. If they are hospitals then is there any way to identify them from these abbreviations? All were whilst serving in Royal Scots Greys. There is no further info before/after, just dates. 11/01/1945 XII (21AG) 08/05/1945 2 ARU XIV 30/08/1946 602CRS XII Thanks in advance.
Hospitals: usually number of hospital ie. 56 then BGH Roman numerals look to be X lists So possibilities. 11/01/1945 XII (21AG). X(ii) list 21 Army Group 08/05/1945 2 ARU XIV. 2nd Army/Armoured Reinforcement unit. X(iv) list 30/08/1946 602CRS XII. 602 Casualty receiving Station. X (ii) list. X (ii) comprises all ranks evacuated on medical grounds beyond Regimental First Aid Post. X (iv) comprises all unposted reinforcements and incoming reinforcement drafts. Personnel discharged from (x(ii)) to Training Depots, fit for duty, are transferred to the X (iv) list of their corps, until posted to a unit.
Hi, You've posted the reverse of the AF B102 - the centrally held record index card - on which shorthand/abbreviated details are kept of most, but not all, entries on other Army Forms - principally the AF B103. It is usually more helpful to members if you post all the AF B103's. IMHO They are easier to interpret than AF B102. Steve Y
