    Is that Mike from Twitter?
Welcome aboard - that's quite some first entry!

We were so close in 2008 with DP2!

I'm still, I hope understandably, rather hesitant, as this has run so long.
Got any photos? He said somewhat excitedly...

I'd like to see a photo or drawing of one without the tarpaulin.

    Then I'll believe it.
Never thought we'd get a positve ID ever.

Mike's put a link to char franchise on Twitter, with picture. Looking good.
I'll leave it to him until Saumur confirms.

    Mike,

    Likewise.

Many thanks for putting us out of our misery with this positive ID, which incidentally is 8 years 1month and 2 days since the question was posed.

    Regards
    Tom

In some ways it's a bit sad, a bit like finding the Lock Ness Monster, the fun was in the chase!
    Cheers all!

P.S. There's an urban legend at Bovington that HMLS Centipede, (Mother) wasn't scrapped at all but is buried somewhere in Bovington Camp......

Still, what an impact to make on your first few posts on the forum.
Solving one of the most head scratching threads we've ever had.

    Well done TankieMike!

I felt confident it was French, and thought the DP 2 was the closest match, but not quite right. I've spent the last few days trying to suss it out but was stumped as it eluded all my reference books and bookmarked sites.

    Great entry into the forum!

Congratulations TankieMike. On the other hand, your ID of softskins is not quite so good as the vehicle in the background is a Guy Quad; Morris Quads (in 1940) had round rear wheel arches.

Does anyone know 'redcoat' who started the thread?
He not been here for a few years, Last Active May 15 2011 , I wonder if he still interested in knowing the answer ?

    I messaged him.
Think I've seen him on 2F more recently.

Re-reading. So we sort of got an answer in 2008 from Bovington with Egston's email from them, but it meant little without a picture or further confirmation.
    Mike & Antoine = Picture & confirmation.

I have poured a nice large Vodka to celebrate this...
