    Hello all
Please forgive me for being a bit slow with this type of site as I have never looked into my family tree.
My name is Bryan and I am one of 3 sons and a daughter of Edmund Hutchinson until yesterday I wasn't aware of my dad's brother so it's come as a shock to me.
My father and mother and my oldest brother have all passed away so will be unable to ask them.
I am going to try and find out more and will come back and update as soon as I can

Welcome Bryan, glad you could join us. If you press the "Watch Thread" button on the top right of the page, you will be alerted to any updates made here.

Tricky, rereading the first post I see relatives of Morison & Clennel have already been found. Tony found Wilkinson's and is there definite contact with Kenneth Rawlings relatives?

So just Holland & Westley to trace?

    Dear Oxonian et al
I have had contact through Ancestry and have replied directly to those people, regarding the memorial in Normandy. This is such an exciting thing.
I am the great niece of John Leo Guy Westley, and I have been in contact with the niece (my Mum) and one of the nephews of John Leo Guy (my Uncle Rick) about this.
John Leo's mother, Marie Henriette, named her house after the place where her son's plane crashed and he was killed.

    Kind Regards
    Lucy

Hi Lucy, glad you have joined the forum. I hope you and your relatives can go to the unveiling next year in France. Sure would appreciate updates here as the story progresses.

Still no response from the Morison message I sent Tricky. Wonder if Frank can find out which branch of the Morison family tree the folks in France are already in touch with?

I came across the same brick wall with the Holland line. I'm beginning to wonder if the parents first names provided via CWGC are maybe middle names they used on a day to day basis, just like what happened in the Margaret Fielden thread.

You've likely checked already for Estate/Will details for Holland?

Can't find an Ernest & Ellen Holland in the Birmingham area on the 1939 ID Reg, but Ernest John's parents didn't necessarily have to be alive when named by CWGC.

His possible sibling Edna M. born 1921, maybe on the Register though. A 20 year old Edna M. with married name of Evans is in Birmingham, can't see the other members of the household.

A 48 year old Edna M. Holland also died in Birmingham in 1968.

Possible parents marriage:- There was an Ernest & Florence L. (nee Barwell) married Sep 1918 in Birmingham, (if we focus on the Ernest John born there 1919). But the mothers first name doesn't fit with the CWGC name of 'Ellen' Holland for his mother.

Was this the same brick wall you hit Tricky?

Yes - mothers maiden name could be Barwell or Hunt - for an Ernest (no other initials)
Cant find an Ernest John (or J) born 1919
Cant find a parents marriage cert - for Ernest to an Emily
1939 Reg shows nothing or confusion

I believe it is - although with this man theres no guarantees

    Hi Folks,
I've been doing work on this since I read about it on Facebook the other day.

So far I've been in touch with Charles Syner who has confirmed that he is a relative of Kenneth Rawlings. He and Andre now have each others email addresses... so that one seems to be sorted out nicely.

I've been in touch with a Lucy Robins who is related to John Leo Guy Westley and Lucy's mother has contacted Andre. Sorted.

I've written to a newspaper in Penrith to give the story of Ronald Rutherford Morison... Margaret V A Jackson (nee Morison) died in 2006 in Penrith. Her children are Judith M and Charles C Jackson born in 1942 and 1948 respectively. I hope that brings a result! Fingers crossed.

I'm still working on the relatives of Ronald Hutchinson. I've traced down to a Janice Emma Hutchinson who was born in Great Yarmouth in 1976 and her brother Mark born in 1978 same place. It's possible that Janice married Matthew R. Reid in 2005 in Kings Lynn, Norfolk and to this end I've written to the local newspaper in Kings Lynn. I don't hold out a great deal of hope there... but I'm still trying.

Ernest John Holland... well, I'm still working on this one and it's difficult. There were two Ernest J Hollands born in Birmingham in 1919 one with mother's maiden name Barwell the other as Hunt. Ernest Holland and Nellie Hunt m. 1910 and Ernest Holland and Florence Barwell m. 1918 Birmingham. I was informed that Ernest Holland's parents were Ernest and Emily which rather muddies the waters. Perhaps Emily is right and she was a widow when they married... so I'm going to work on those lines. Also, it's possible they didn't marry in Warwickshire... which widens the search, rather when looking for a marriage.

I haven't started on Walter Hugh Wilkinson yet... but I shall! So any help on Holland or Wilkinson would be great.

    Cheerio for now,

    Gill

At least one parent was still alive, this was posted in the Birmingham Mail 13th April 1942. Ernest had joined the R.A.F in June 1939 and had worked as a plasterer pre-war.

    Hi Gill

Holland is the only one that is missing - if you read back though the thread you will note a Bryan Hutchinson has joined as a new member like yourself - and is a relative of Ronald

Hi Gill, I'm interested to know where the suggestion came from for the mothers name being Elsie Barwell.

The reason I ask when I was checking the GRO website/FreeBMD site there was a marriage in Birmingham in 1920 for an Elsie M. Barwell to a Howard L. Holland.

I was assuming that Howard may have been a brother of Ernest Holland and Elsie a relative of the Florence Barwell married to Ernest Holland in 1918.

Tricky, can you find that Florence Barwell and relatives in the 1911 Census?

Further to my previous message...Walter H. Wilkinson's sister was Margaret Wilkinson...and on the 1939 records it shows that she married an Ainslie (different spelling but I still feel it's right). Margaret married a Peter Ainslie in 1949 in Penrith. They had a daughter, Alison M. Ainslie, in 1956. I can't find any other children of this marriage, though. Anyway, I'll plough on.

Yes... I saw that too...but rather discounted it.

I'm now thinking that if Ernest Holland had been in another part of the country, perhaps as a service man just after the war, and he met an Emily ? who was a war widow and they got married... see where I'm going with this? I'll have a search around and see what I get.
