Hi, asking for a friend on another forum. Any idea on the regiment of this chap?

The cap badge is far from clear, but based on what I can see. Jerboa arm patch + black cap = 7th Armoured Division and probably one of the Royal Tank Regiments going off the shape of the cap badge. Probably post D-Day based on how he is dressed, so 1st or 5th Royal Tank Regiment.

Agree. Looks like the 'Skins' 5RIDG. Replaced 4th CLY in 22 Brigade, 7 Amd.Div. 29 July 1944. Equipped with Cromwell tanks. There's a history relating to the Regt. in the 2WW -Tracks in Europe by Capt. C. J. Boardman, City Press, Salford, 1990

I don’t know how you guys are so certain that it’s the Skins. I looked at that first, but thought the RTR badge looked more likely, but as I say, given the unclear image, I am only guessing.

The distinct angled terminals of the Roman 'V'. The RTR cap badge has the tank within the wreath. In an unclear photo it blurs into a crowned disc and looks similar to other corps badges. It's an imprecise science however the eye gets accustomed to spotting key lumps and bumps.
